Luce x Tempo

Una volta realizzati i cerchi formati da tante piccole immagini con gli orizzonti che rappresentano i miei paesaggi – luoghi dei quali porto testimonianza – capisco che posso sviluppare un progetto ulteriore, che tenga in considerazione il tempo.
Mentre nel progetto Spazio x Tempo mi sono sforzato di sottrarre il tempo, nel tentativo di omologare la luce tra i vari luoghi per dare una forte continuità tra le immagini, nel progetto Luce x Tempo il tempo diventa soggetto.
Non più luoghi diversi alla stessa ora bensì stesso luogo a tutte le ore.
Nasce così la riflessione su come il paesaggio muta al mutare della sua luce, e così inizia un’altro viaggio.
Ho approfondito questo tema sviluppando il progetto nelle varie stagioni e verificando concretamente quanto la cosmologia planetaria regoli la durata del giorno e della notte.
Mi sorprendo quando una severa sequenza automatizzata di 7 immagini con 12 stop di differenza ogni 15 min per 24 h complessive sappia catturare, in mia assenza, momenti che sono accaduti anche se io non ero vigile.
Mi sembra naturale riflettere sul tema della presenza e assenza e del mezzo tecnologico (mi viene in mente la lezione di Franco Vaccari) e come questo progetto in qualche misura lo attraversi.
Having created circles made up of a number of small images of the horizons that are present in my landscapes – places to which I bear testimony – I realised that I could develop a further project that took into account time.
While in the Light x Time project I endeavoured to subtract time, in an attempt to standardise the light between the various places so as to ensure a strong continuity between the images, in the Light x Time project time becomes a theme.
Instead of different places at the same time of day, it is the same place at all hours.
This gives rise to reflection on how landscape changes as its light changes, and so another journey begins.
I have explored this theme by extending the project throughout the change of the seasons and tangibly ascertaining how planetary cosmology governs the duration of day and night.
I am amazed at how a precise automated sequence of 7 images with a 12-stop difference every 15 minutes for a total of 24 hours is able to capture, in my absence, instances that occurred even though I was not there to observe them.
It seems natural to me to reflect on the theme of presence and absence and the technological medium (Franco Vaccari’s lecture comes to mind) and how this project,to some extent, goes through it.
